Since childhood, watching The Sound of Music, author Autumn Rain Lockett couldn't stop wondering about the von Trapp children's real first mother, the woman who loved them first and built the home Maria would later walk into. History left her out entirely.
Then, in 2011, on a cobblestone street in Salzburg, Austria, a chance encounter with an old nun stopped Autumn in her tracks. She couldn't explain the feeling that moved through her, but she took the woman's photo anyway. Later, standing on the train platform leaving the city, she found herself in tears she didn't expect, certain, somehow, that Salzburg wasn't finished with her.
Now she knows why.
In Edelweiss, that forgotten mother finally gets a name and a story: Agatha von Linden, Captain von Trapp's first love, and the woman history forgot. As Autumn puts it, her story chose her, and she's writing her back into the world.

Autumn Rain Lockett has carried the story of Edelweiss since she was a little girl watching The Sound of Music, always wondering about the von Trapp children's real first mother, the woman history left out. That question followed her for years, until a chance encounter on a cobblestone street in Salzburg in 2011 set everything in motion.
